nowthekingannouncedatournament,andthewinnerwouldhavehisdaughterinmarriage。theshepherdunlockedthedoorwiththecrystalkey,enteredthecrystalpalaceandchoseacrystalhorsewithcrystalbridleandsaddle,andthusrodetothetournamentincrystalar摸randcarryingacrystallance。hedefeatedalltheotherknightsandfledwithoutrevealingwhohewas。
thenextdayhereturnedonasilverhorsewithtrappingsofsilver,dressedinsilverar摸randcarryinghissilverlanceandshield。hedefeatedeveryoneandfled,stillunknowntoall。thethirddayhereturnedonagoldhorse,outfittedentirelyingold。hewasvictoriousthethirdtimeaswell,andtheprincesssaid,"iknowwhoyouare。yourethemanwhogavemeflowersofcrystal,silver,andgold,fromthegardensofyourcastlesofcrystal,silver,andgold。"
